eFinancialCareers is recruiting a Senior Data/AI Engineer - Manager to join a leading Technology & Transformation consultancy in Manchester. You will lead technical workstreams, shape data and AI solutions, mentor junior engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.

The role sits at the intersection of Data Engineering, AI and Generative AI, offering hands-on leadership, exposure to modern cloud platforms and opportunities to drive real impact for major clients.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Data Engineer, Data Developer, AI Engineer or similar.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills.
• Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines with structured and unstructured data.
• Experience leading technical workstreams or taking ownership of significant elements of project delivery.
• Mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience in consultancy or professional services environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical workstreams within data and AI transformation programmes.
• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data models.
• Develop solutions for analytics, ML and AI use cases.
• Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Develop AI/ML solutions including prediction, classification and automation.
• Build Generative AI-enabled solutions using Large Language Models, prompt engineering and context engineering techniques.
• Provide technical direction to project teams and ensure quality delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Analysts and Product teams to translate requirements into solutions.
• Implement testing, validation and monitoring for data accuracy and model performance.
• Optimize data processing, storage and AI workloads.
• Produce documentation covering pipelines and data models.
• Ensure data governance, security and privacy standards.
• Work in Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
