Job summary

Compare the Market is seeking a Principal Engineer (Data & AI Capabilities) to set the technical direction for data and AI across our organisation, based in London and Peterborough.

You will lead the design and delivery of scalable AI and data solutions, establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, and partner with senior stakeholders to translate business goals into tangible technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing, delivering and supporting large-scale data and AI solutions in production.
• Experience setting technical direction and engineering standards.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals for data-intensive systems in production.
• Experience applying these skills to AI/ML engineering.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business outcomes.
• Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentoring others to develop teams and individuals.
• Interest in shaping how organisations scale AI responsibly.
