We are excited to announce an opportunity for a highly skilled specialist to join our Manchester operation as a Lead Critical Facilities Engineer (CFE Level VI). This day-time role is perfect for someone eager to contribute to innovative concepts and techniques within our Data Centres.

Responsibilities:
Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Performs highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for critical facility systems.
  • Performs highly skilled maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installations.
  • Resolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to support the overall team.
  • Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve. Makes recommendations for new procedures to the management team.
  • Leads and coordinates critical infrastructure operations.
  • Implements energy efficiency measures and identifies areas of opportunities.
  • Inspects operation and maintenance of plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
  • Works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative. Makes recommendations for new procedures.
  • Develops project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end-of-life infrastructure projects and critical replacements.
Vendor Support
  • Facilitates selection of vendors for outsourced maintenance activities.
  • Directs vendors on highly skilled tasks to ensure maintenance activities meet standards and requirements.
  • Creates scripts for maintenance and submits.
  • Tracks and implements work approval processes for critical service providers, including briefing, control of work, and final review.
  • Inspects implementation changes/updates to technical files for plants and equipment, ensuring builds are up to date.
Site Administration & Incident Support
  • Completes complex site logs and data gathering for permits such as Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) and scripts.
  • Identifies and escalates process discrepancies to higher management.
  • Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommends new procedures.
  • Acts as a support team lead for operating processes and procedures; supports team adherence.
  • Supports on-site staff during critical incidents.
  • Responds to all incidents, including major failures and delays.
  • Assists with Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Maintains technical documents with management support.
Work Orders & Additional Projects
  • Completes highly skilled work requests and circuit installations.
  • Coordinates troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment; supports auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Makes moderate changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed.
  • Performs capacity management reviews.
  • Leads infrastructure project activities.
Collaboration
  • Collaborates to resolve difficult facility incidents and understands underlying issues.
  • Acts as a support team lead in component-level fault identification and procedure development.
  • Utilizes external resources as necessary.
  • Plans inventory needs for critical parts and equipment.
  • May act as an escalation point for inventory processes.
  • Advises team members on repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Leads implementation of complex projects.
Who are you?
  • Educational Background: ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Skilled collaborator with strong communication skills, verbal & written.
  • Experience in data centre or critical environment settings is beneficial.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems. HV switching experience preferred.
  • Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, flexible, capable of working independently or in a team.
