Job summary

Chefs for Chefs are seeking an experienced Lead Cook to run the day-to-day kitchen at a well-established nursing home in Ingleton, North Yorkshire. The role focuses on fresh, nutritious meals for around 30 residents and 10 staff lunches, with sociable 8:00am–6:00pm daytime hours.

This full-time post offers paid overtime, a friendly team, good training and development, and a supportive management structure in a stable care environment where quality and wellbeing are priorities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Cook, Lead Cook or Chef.
• Care home experience desirable but not essential.
• Good understanding of specialist diets, allergies and nutritional requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Caring, reliable and positive attitude.
• Pride in producing fresh, well-presented meals.
• Ability to work independently while supporting the wider team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, home-style meals to a consistently high standard.
• Plan menus that cater for dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances.
• Lead the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleaning and Health & Safety standards.
• Manage stock rotation and food ordering.
• Work alongside the Kitchen Assistant to ensure an efficient and organised kitchen.
• Help create a positive dining experience for residents every day.
