Job summary

Routes to Work is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen team in a residential care home setting. You will plan, prepare and cook nutritious meals that meet residents’ dietary needs while ensuring safety and high standards.

The role offers a supportive environment, competitive pay (£14.45/hr) and the chance to make a real difference in daily life for residents. You will work 34.5 hours per week across a four-day pattern.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef, ideally in a leadership role.
• Strong cooking and food preparation skills.
• Experience of Environmental Health and food safety procedures.
• Care home experience is preferred but not essential.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook balanced, nutritious meals for residents.
• Lead and support kitchen staff in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
• Manage food ordering, stock control and budget requirements.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Ensure compliance with all Environmental Health and food safety regulations.
• Cater for special dietary requirements and allergies.
• Work collaboratively with care and management teams to provide a positive dining experience for residents.
