Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust is recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist for the Specialist Community Mental Health Team in the Wigan area. The post supports a multidisciplinary team, handles high‑complex presentations and involves clinic work with possible home visits.

Qualifications

• Must hold MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
• GMC Registration and Specialist Register are required.
• Approved Clinician status is required.
• UK NHS recruitment and DBS checks apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in MDT to ensure delivery of high‑quality care.
• Carry out assessments and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
• Manage risk including suicide, health, safety and harm to others.
• Prepare and attend Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers’ hearings.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists from partner providers and external services.
