Job summary

The Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) in Wigan is seeking a replacement Consultant Psychiatrist tolead a multidisciplinary team delivering community-based and clinic-based care for adults with severe mental health disorders. The post emphasizes collaboration, risk assessment, and engagement with partner providers.

You will provide expert assessment and management plans within a busy MDT, participating in hearings and professional development.

Qualifications

Undertake assessments of referrals/admissions to the service.
Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations.
Assessment and management of risk including vulnerability, suicide risk, health and safety risks.
Preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal reports and attendance at hearings.
Work in a collaborative MDT with external partners.
Work with psychiatrists from partner providers (Forensic/ Rehab).
Lead clinical decision making in MDT to ensure high-quality care.
Develop service clinical priorities in line with guidance and standards.
Engage with transformation programmes including Consultant meetings.
Provide supervision for trainees in core psychiatry.
