Job summary

Wates Group in Pontypridd is seeking a Construction Manager to lead residential schemes from bid to handover. You will coordinate multidisciplinary site teams and drive a zero-harm, quality-first culture while delivering on time and within budget.

With strong collaboration across partners, customers and local stakeholders, you’ll shape projects early, mentor Project Managers and align buildability with client goals. Wates supports development and values people.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering residential projects with multidisciplinary site teams.
• Strong commercial awareness including budgets, forecasting and cost control.
• Knowledge of construction methods, buildability, design coordination, programme management and Building Regulations.
• Excellent communication and collaborative working style.
• Proficiency with digital construction and reporting tools.
• CSCS card and SMSTS or equivalent.
• A relevant construction qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the programme, logistics and sequencing to keep delivery on track.
• Support commercial success with profit plans, cash flow, risks and opportunities.
• Shape projects early through bids, buildability reviews and client presentations.
• Build strong partnerships with supply-chain partners.
• Be a key point of contact for customers, consultants, residents and local stakeholders.
• Promote a zero-harm safety and quality culture.
• Coach and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, and early-career colleagues.
