Job summary

Wates Group seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead residential schemes in Pontypridd. You will manage site teams, coordinate programmes, and collaborate with partners to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will drive buildability reviews, client presentations and safety standards, while mentoring project staff to strengthen capabilities and career growth. This role values teamwork and proactive problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering residential projects with multidisciplinary site teams.
• CSCS card and SMSTS, or equivalent.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the programme, logistics and sequencing to keep delivery on track.
• Support commercial success by engaging with the commercial team on budgeting and risks.
• Shape projects early through bids, buildability reviews and client presentations.
• Build strong partnerships with supply-chain partners and establish clear expectations.
• Be the main point of contact for customers, consultants, residents and local stakeholders.
• Promote a zero-harm safety and right-first-time quality culture.
• Coach and develop Project Managers and site teams to grow capability and careers.

Job description

• Shape projects early: Share your site expertise during bids, buildability reviews and customer presentations, helping teams make informed decisions from the outset.
• Build strong partnerships: Work closely with supply-chain partners, setting clear expectations and developing positive, trusted relationships.
• Build trusted relationships: Be a key point of contact for customers, consultants, residents and local stakeholders, creating open and collaborative relationships throughout the project.
• Create a positive safety and quality culture: Encourage everyone to play their part in zero harm, speak up about unsafe behaviours and work together to achieve right-first-time quality.
• Support people to grow: Coach and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, Section Managers and early-career colleagues, helping people build their confidence, capability and careers.

  Experience of successfully delivering residential projects while working with multidisciplinary site teams.

• Good commercial awareness across budgets, forecasting, cost control and risk.
• Good knowledge of construction methodology, buildability, design coordination, programme management and Building Regulations.
• Strong communication skills and an inclusive, collaborative approach to working with others.
• Confidence using digital construction and reporting tools.
• CSCS card and SMSTS, or equivalent.
• A relevant construction qualification or equivalent.
