Job summary

McLaren Racing in the United Kingdom seeks a design engineer to create conceptual and detailed designs for composite and metallic race car components and the associated tooling. You will drive concepts from briefs through to production, ensuring accuracy and pace in delivery.

You'll investigate reliability issues, implement robust solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders across the car's systems while adhering to established processes and best practices.

Qualifications

• Proven design experience and knowledge of composite race car components and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience in Formula 1 or similar fast-paced high-performance design environment.
• Strong knowledge of composite and metallic materials and broad design skills.
• Proficiency in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE, plus Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Degree in mechanical engineering is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual and detailed designs for composite and metallic race car components and tooling.
• Take ownership of design projects from brief to delivery with speed and accuracy.
• Investigate component reliability issues and implement effective solutions.
• Lead projects or small teams and mentor junior members.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and align with established processes and best practices.
