Job summary

McLaren Racing in Woking is seeking a seasoned Design Engineer to lead the conceptual and detailed design of composite and metallic race car components, tooling, and test jigs. You will drive projects end-to-end, ensuring robust designs and timely delivery.

Ideal candidates have proven racecar design experience, strong materials knowledge, and proficiency in CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE, along with Word/Excel skills to support documentation and analysis.

Qualifications

• Proven design experience with composite race car components and manufacturing techniques.
• Experience within Formula 1 or a similarly fast-paced design environment.
• Strong knowledge of composite and metallic materials and a broad design skill set.

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual and detailed designs for composite and metallic race car components, tooling, jig parts and test jigs.
• Take ownership of design projects from brief through to delivery, working accurately and at pace.
• Investigate component reliability issues and implement effective solutions.
• Lead projects or small teams, supporting junior team members.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to priority projects across the car areas.
