Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde invites applications for a Band 6 Community Nurse in the South Glasgow Older People’s Mental Health Team. The post is based across Shawmill Resource Centre, Pollokshaws and Elderpark Clinic, Govan, delivering comprehensive assessment and care for people aged 65 and over with functional and organic mental health conditions.

Fixed-term maternity cover (9 months), 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm.

Qualifications

• CPD evidence encouraged
• Excellent communication and organisational skills required
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and mental health policy requirements
• CPD and ongoing professional development expected

Responsibilities

• Manage a defined caseload and undertake comprehensive mental health assessments
• Develop and evaluate individualised care plans for older adults with mental health needs
• Contribute to service improvement and provide supervision to junior staff
• Promote public health and wellbeing and participate in policy implementation
• Lead within the nursing team and deputise for the Nursing Team Leader when needed
