Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineering Manager to lead the UK-based Commissioning Engineering organisation, delivering major HVDC, HV, Substation and Grid Integration projects.

You will lead and develop a high-performing team, manage performance, succession planning, and resource forecasting, while fostering safety, collaboration and innovation across projects and tender activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Significant commissioning, energisation, construction, project delivery or operations experience.
• Proven leadership of technical engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of HVDC, HV, Substation, Transmission & Distribution, or Grid Integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the UK-based Commissioning Engineering team.
• Act as the line manager for Commissioning Engineers with reviews and career planning.
• Create development and succession plans across the organisation.
• Foster mentoring, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Promote engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and retention.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and integration of new staff.
• Ensure available competent resources for project delivery and tendering.
• Collaborate with Project Commissioning Managers to forecast resource needs.
• Identify capability gaps and drive commissioning competency development.
• Champion safety culture and high standards of commissioning excellence.
