Project Description

The Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) project at Sellafield is a critical component of the site’s 100-year clean-up programme. It involves encasing recovered nuclear waste in concrete for safe storage, primarily handling waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo and other legacy waste stores.

The BEP Joint Venture will design and deliver the plant and associated works to meet contractual and stakeholder requirements, ensuring safe and compliant operations.

The Lead Commissioning Engineer is responsible for:

• Prioritizing safety and exemplifying a proactive safety culture, including nuclear, radiological, environmental, and conventional safety.
• Leading commissioning engineers and technicians.
• Overseeing all testing activities during commissioning phases.
• Supervising the creation of commissioning test documentation.
• Organizing commissioning technicians and support resources.
• Managing FOBs and TQs initiation and implementation.
• Coordinating with regulatory compliance representatives to facilitate witnessing of commissioning activities.
• Managing Temporary Commissioning Aids documentation and records.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

• Experience in engineering, e.g., mechanical discipline, with time served or equivalent.
• Preference for HNC or equivalent qualification or pathway to achieve it.
• Experience in project commissioning.
• Experience with process commissioning, vessels, and pumps.

The ability to obtain BPSS clearance is essential for this role.
