Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with HV substation protection relays and SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise staff to ensure project execution aligns with expectations.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioning Manager to supervise and develop staff.

Job Description Summary

Ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Quality, safeguarding the environment. All activities must comply with GE Grid and client policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Undertake testing and commissioning on newly installed primary and secondary equipment during construction and in-service reconfigurations or extensions of substations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise staff to ensure project execution aligns with client and GE expectations, timelines, and budgets.
  • Create, maintain, and circulate accurate on-site test records, reports, and quality documentation per GE standards.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioning Manager to supervise, train, mentor, and develop commissioning staff.
  • Undertake assignments across the UK and globally, including offshore projects.
  • Act as LVAP on projects where GE is the Principal Contractor.

Operations

  • Promote safe working practices and continual safety culture improvement.
  • Manage testing and commissioning of substation equipment within time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Lead daily management of site commissioning resources for successful project delivery.
  • Prepare and issue site test documentation, including RAMS, NCRs, and TQs.
  • Report non-compliances or deviations to the Site and Project Managers.
  • Enact the role of LV Authorized Person (Advanced) as per GE LVSSOW procedures.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in Site Commissioning, working independently in problem-solving and decision-making.

Deliverables

  • Organize and execute commissioning work within agreed programs and budgets.
  • Apply company policies effectively to achieve key deliverables.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Specific Knowledge

  • Experience with HV substation protection relays, SCADA systems, IEC61850 protocol.
  • Testing & commissioning of HV and LV switchgear and equipment.
  • Fault finding using test equipment like Omicron, Megger, etc.
  • Computer literacy.

Business Understanding

  • Experience with construction and field services site work.
