Qualifications

• Significant experience as a software engineer.
• Experience architecting highly scalable and efficient distributed systems using open source tools.
• Consistent track record delivering Application and Cloud Solution Architectures.
• Extensive experience selecting and implementing cloud services, primarily AWS.
• Detailed understanding of messaging services for modern application architecture.
• In-depth experience with cloud patterns, multi-tenancy, sharding, priority queue, throttling, sidecar and CAP theorem.
• Understanding of polyglot persistence and hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL solutions.
• Experience with MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Elasticsearch and other relational databases.
• In-depth understanding of HTTP and REST API design, management, and consumption.
• Very strong Java skills and experience with Python, Spring Boot, Node.js and JavaScript.
• Understanding of use of AI as a tool and within applications.
• Experience implementing Enterprise Integration Patterns
• Experience with authentication methods such as SAML, OIDC or Auth2
• Extensive experience designing and implementing scalable, extensible, performant, secure and highly available systems
• Experience presenting to senior leadership and working across technical and business teams
• Experience working with externally sourced engineers and architects
• Awareness of GDPR and ISO standards
• Understanding of risk management, customer and third-party risk, and the regulatory marketplace
• Understanding of financial markets, banking and news
• Robust analytical, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
• Ability to manage numerous projects with conflicting priorities
• Ability to operate across organisational boundaries and influence vendors and technology staff

Responsibilities

• Work with the Solution Architect of World-Check One – Risk Engineering to shape technical strategy.
• Develop critical financial services including World-Check One, Screening and Due Diligence.
• Design software solutions from the ground up and make high-level architectural decisions.
• Direct engineering teams in building final products.
• Build logical, physical, implementation and process solution architecture designs.
• Design cloud infrastructure and detailed application architecture.
• Optimise cloud solution costs through waste reduction, automated cost management and autoscaling.
• Support DevOps teams with CI/CD automation.
• Support application development teams with governance, privacy gates, compliance and risk analysis.
• Lead production issue root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Work with Product Owners and Business Analysts on solution concepts, costs and timescales.
• Own implementation of quality-of-service requirements for availability, recovery, reusability, performance, maintainability, security, capacity and compatibility.
• Produce domain/business logic, interoperability, API, messaging, data model and physical architecture designs.
• Pair with Application Architects and Technical Leads and develop their design skills.
• Produce proof of concepts for Technical Leads and development teams.
• Contribute to architecture communities of practice and councils and develop architectural standards.
• Identify technology and partnership opportunities that can shift the business and realise them with business partners.
• Provide authority and leadership on sophisticated technical matters and solution architecture strategy.
• Translate technical issues for non-technical audiences and articulate architecture vision and direction.
• Deliver technical training, presentations and white papers to internal and external audiences
