Job summary

Arcadis in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal Clean Water Modeller to lead the development and application of clean water distribution models for planning, resilience and capital delivery projects. You will guide modelling strategies, calibrate outputs, and ensure high-quality documentation.

You will mentor modellers, engage with clients, and contribute to bids, gaining exposure across multi-disciplinary teams while delivering robust, auditable results that support sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil/Water Engineering (Essential).
• Significant experience in clean water distribution modelling in consultancy or water company environments.
• Strong understanding of water distribution hydraulics and operational behaviour.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and QA records.
• Chartered (or working towards) with ICE/CIWEM (Desirable).
• Experience with water quality modelling concepts (e.g. water age).
• Experience developing automation, QA tools, or advanced GIS/data workflows (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discussions with clients, explaining assumptions and results.
• Define modelling strategies and ensure outputs are fit for purpose.
• Develop and promote best practices and templates across modelling teams.
• Build, update and maintain clean water network models (steady-state and EP simulations).
• Calibrate against flow, pressure and level data; perform scenario modelling.
• Deliver QA, documentation and change control for modelling work.
• Mentor and develop junior and senior modellers; support resource planning.
• Assist bids and proposals with modelling methodologies and scope.
