Job summary

Kier Group plc is seeking a Principal Civils Engineer to join the STEP Design Authority and lead civil/structural decisions for the STEP Prototype Plant. You will shape the civil design across buildings, groundworks and site infrastructure, acting as a trusted technical authority and interface for multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Degree-level qualification in civil or structural engineering.
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition.
Experience leading civil/structural engineering in complex, safety-critical environments.
Demonstrated governance, verification and design review capabilities.

Responsibilities

Define and maintain civil plant design vision and engineering principles.
Act as technical authority for civil/structural outputs with independent judgment.
Ensure integration between buildings, civil structures and external interfaces.
Set governance, review and design controls for civil engineering.
Support safety case, regulatory scrutiny and construction readiness.
