Job summary

Matchtech seeks a Civil Section Engineer for a permanent role within the AMP8 Framework with United Utilities, focusing on strengthening Construction and Project delivery teams in the water sector.

The role requires strong setting-out, surveying, and engineering control experience, with a track record on major infrastructure projects and a commitment to safety and quality documentation. Excellent technical mentoring will be part of the role.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Experience as Site/Section Engineer on civil projects or major infrastructure.
  • Setting-out, surveying and engineering control proficiency.
  • Knowledge of specifications, standards and tolerances.
  • Experience producing method statements and risk assessments.
  • CDM safety knowledge and site procedures.
  • CSCS card and SMSTS/IOSH qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Temporary Works Supervisor qualification or progression towards.
  • Experience in major projects or Tier 1 contractor environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering control for an area of works, ensuring accurate setting-out and surveying.
  • Interpret designs, raise technical queries with clear, solution-driven proposals.
  • Establish and maintain primary control points and site tolerances.
  • Oversee as-built surveys, checks and verifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to Site Engineers, Graduates and Apprentices.
  • Collaborate with Temporary Works teams to define and safely execute temporary works.
