Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Associate Director - Civil Engineering (Transmission & Distribution) to provide strategic leadership across frontend and detailed civil/structural design for HV substations and related energy projects in the UK.

You will pose technical assurance, drive delivery excellence, and shape market growth while mentoring engineers and leading tenders for major National Grid/DNO opportunities.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects for Energy Transition.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects in UK T&D with client-facing capability.
• Fluency in BIM/CDE processes and design tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil/structural design packages from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Define civil layouts for substations, including platforms, foundations, drainage, access roads and security.
• Drive technical reviews and approvals covering foundation design, structural framing and oil containment.
• Chair design reviews and ensure CDM 2015 compliance.
• Plan resources, programmes and budgets; coordinate with subconsultants and suppliers.
• Provide construction-phase support, site inspections and RFI responses.
• Lead tenders, proposals and client presentations; maintain strategic client relationships.
• Mentor Senior/Principal Engineers and set technical standards.
