• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA required.
• 10+ years of civil engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership.
• Experience delivering large-scale residential/commercial infrastructure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks and project management tools.
• Experience leading remote teams and using digital collaboration platforms.
• Knowledge of South African infrastructure planning and approvals.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking development company, is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Lead Civil Engineer to drive their infrastructure development initiatives.

This fully remote role offers the unique opportunity to shape significant urban and regional development projects from conception to completion, working entirely online.

You will be responsible for leading the civil engineering design strategy, managing project teams virtually, and ensuring the seamless integration of infrastructure components such as roads, water supply, sanitation, and stormwater systems.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and a strong command of remote collaboration tools, contributing to impactful projects across various locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of civil infrastructure for new developments, ensuring optimal functionality and sustainability.
• Oversee the planning and execution of road networks, bulk earthworks, water and sewer reticulation, and stormwater management systems.
• Manage and mentor a geographically dispersed team of civil engineers and designers through virtual collaboration platforms.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards, environmental regulations, and municipal requirements.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for civil works.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate approvals and project progress.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments remotely where possible, or coordinate site visits.
• Implement and maintain rigorous quality control and assurance processes for all design deliverables.
• Stay abreast of innovative design technologies and construction methodologies relevant to remote project execution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a strong focus on infrastructure development.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven experience in the design and delivery of large-scale residential, commercial, or mixed-use development infrastructure.
• Exceptional proficiency in civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks) and project management tools.
• Demonstrated experience and comfort with leading remote teams and managing projects using digital collaboration tools.
• Strong understanding of South African infrastructure planning and approval processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to think strategically and drive innovation in a remote work setting.
