Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer in the United Kingdom to plan and deliver civil design across the design and construction stages, while leading a civil design team and coordinating with CS&A Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager.

Applicants should hold a civil/structural engineering degree, with Chartered status preferred, and demonstrate experience in highways, drainage, underground services, and related disciplines.

• Experience in civil design including highways, drainage, underground services, fencing, hardstanding and earthworks.
• Experience leading teams, planning and delivery, chairing meetings and stakeholder management.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations.

• Lead civil design development, create 3D model and produce 2D AutoCAD GA and detail drawings; ensure designs are safe and fit for purpose.
• Fulfil the Designer role under CDM Regulations.

Job description

As a Lead Civil Engineer some of your responsibilities could include:

• Work with the CS&A Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager to plan the delivery of the civil design scope throughout the design and construction stages, monitor and manage delivery against schedule and elevate risks.
• Lead the Civil team of Engineers and Designers within CS&A and represent the Civil discipline at cross discipline meetings within the project or with stakeholders. The team is likely to be provided by an external consultant working on packages of work.
• The Civil Lead will have to provide technical management, direction, oversight and assurance of the packages and accept deliverables on behalf of the project.
• Lead the Civil team to undertake the civil design, develop the 3D model and produce 2D AutoCAD GA and detail drawings from the model and specifications as design progresses through Preliminary and Detailed Design. Ensure designs are safe, fit for purpose and meet requirements.

• Fulfil the Designer role under the CDM Regulations

  Have a civil / structural engineering degree and ideally be a Chartered Engineer.

• Ideally experienced in all aspects of civil design including highways, drainage and other underground services, fencing, hardstanding and earthworks.
• Experienced in using civil design software - Infodrainage, Civils 3D and AutoCAD for 2D.
• Ideally have some nuclear experience but if not, in a similar industrial field.
• Experience in leading teams, planning and managing delivery, chairing meetings, managing stakeholders or a desire to expand into this area.
• Working in multi-disciplinary teams.

• Working knowledge of CDM.
