CrossReach in Springburn, Glasgow, is seeking a Lead Night Children's Worker for our short-break service, providing safe, nurturing overnight care to children with disabilities.

You will lead the night shift, follow care plans, administer medication, support mobility, and mentor colleagues while ensuring high standards of person-centred care.

Qualifications

• SVQ 3 in Social Care (Children) or equivalent qualification and SSSC registration.
• Experience working with children, including those with additional support needs.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during demanding shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including toileting, dressing, eating and personal hygiene.
• Run the overnight respite centre when the Team Leader or Service Manager is not present.

Job description

We’re looking for a Lead Children’s Worker to join our Children with Disabilities service in Springburn, providing care and support throughout the night.

Our short-break service gives children and young people with disabilities a safe and nurturing place to stay, while supporting their confidence, independence and individual development. As part of the night team, you’ll make sure each child feels safe, comfortable and well supported, while taking responsibility for leading the shift and maintaining high standards of care throughout the night.

This role is open to female applicants only. Being female is an Occupational Requirement for this role under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

What you’ll do

About you

You’ll be an experienced and compassionate care professional who is confident taking responsibility and making decisions during a night shift. You’ll have an SVQ 3 in Social Care (Children), HNC or equivalent SCQF Level 7 qualification and experience of working with children, ideally including children with additional support needs. You’ll have experience supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviour and be able to remain calm and focused when situations are demanding or priorities change. You’ll bring strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills, alongside a genuine commitment to providing safe, person-centred care. Experience in care, education or youth work and building positive relationships with families would be an advantage. You’ll need to be a member of the PVG Scheme and registered with the SSSC, meeting the standards required for your registration.
