Enfield Council seeks an experienced social work manager for the new Multi-Agency Child Protection Team. The Lead Practitioner will oversee safeguarding decisions, engage partners from police, health and education, and drive timely multi-agency action to protect children at risk.
They will work to national LCPP standards, lead enquiries under Section 47, and attend MACPT planning and review meetings. The role requires strong leadership, safeguarding expertise, and commitment to family-centred
The Enfield Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT) is a new model developed in response to national expectations for stronger, more consistent and timely multi-agency child protection decision-making. We are bringing together experienced practitioners from children’s social care, police, health and education so that information is shared earlier, thresholds are applied consistently, and decisive protective action is taken when a child is experiencing or is likely to experience significant harm.
Enfield’s vision is to establish a MACPT that is child-centred, compassionate, evidence-informed and closely aligned with Family Help, Child in Care and Care Leavers Services, ensuring families experience a seamless safeguarding response rather than fragmented intervention.
The Lead Child protection Practitioners will be accountable to the MACPT Service Managers and Head of Safeguarding, and must have significant experience of working to protect children at risk of abuse inside or outside of the home. Working closely with partners from education, police and health to deliver on all operational aspects of the MACPT, following national legislation and guidance, the local Enfield MACPT Operating Protocol and the local Enfield MACPT Quality Assurance and Outcome Framework.
As a Lead Child Protection Practitioner, you will be expected to meet the Lead Child Protection Practitioner (LCPP) standards from the Department for Education that set out the minimum knowledge and skills LCPPs are expected to have to effectively lead child protection processes. This includes being directly responsible for identifying and responding to actual or likely significant harm, engaging children and families during Section 47 enquiries, formulating the likelihood of significant harm and planning and intervening to prevent and stop actual or likely significant harm.
As a LCPP you will be expected to attend alongside partners the MACPT operational meetings and participate in planning and reviews of the MACPT. You will be required to evidence the success of the MACPT through excellent practice making robust decisions and taking action to prevent and stop child abuse.
