Role Title: Lead Business Analyst

Business Unit: UKI Finance

Reports to: UKI Head of Reporting & Analytics

Location: Newcastle, Belfast

JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UKI Finance team for a Lead Business Analyst. The primary focus will be to support the UK in activities across all Service Lines. The role involves working with Senior Leadership to provide high-quality financial and management information, often under tight deadlines.

The role includes developing new reports and analyses in collaboration with stakeholders, systematizing existing assets, and leading a team of Data Analysts. The candidate will oversee project work, identify bottlenecks, find creative solutions, and upskill team members for future Business Analyst roles. Presenting information and analysis to end users, highlighting variances and recommended actions, is a key aspect.

Candidates should demonstrate strong financial analysis skills, including processing and verification, and work closely with the wider finance team. Problem-solving and adaptability are essential, especially given the ongoing changes due to the Global Finance Transformation Programme.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the Head of R&A to set priorities and actions.
  • Maintain relationships within the Finance team to understand infrastructure changes and their impact on reporting.
  • Manage projects, ensuring data consistency across the business.
  • Lead weekly team meetings and foster collaboration.
  • Organize and oversee the Data Analysts team, balancing workloads and deadlines.
  • Ensure high standards in reporting delivery, including oversight of the GDS Team.
  • Assist in training and upskilling team members, balancing business and technical knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new tools for efficiency gains.
  • Deliver ad-hoc management information on short notice.
  • Lead by example and support the roll-out of new initiatives, systems, and processes.
  • Enhance the profile of the UKI R&A Team within the business.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Develop and maintain reports and documentation of key processes.
  • Perform data quality and accuracy checks across platforms.
  • Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing, including resource identification and progress assessment.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong financial analysis background, preferably within Professional Services, with experience managing projects as a Data or Financial Analyst.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working across finance areas and service lines at all levels.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, quality, and efficiency.
  • Client-focused with a good understanding of service concepts.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to change.
  • Experience in managing, motivating, and training teams.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word; familiarity with MS SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), T-SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML, VBA; understanding of relational databases; experience with PowerBI.
Desirable Skills
  • Familiarity with Alteryx.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Experience with Python Machine Learning and Forecasting.
