UKI Finance Job Description

Role Title: Lead Business Analyst

Business Unit: UKI Finance

Reports to: UKI Head of Reporting & Analytics

Location: Newcastle, Belfast

JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UKI Finance team for a Lead Business Analyst. The primary focus will be to support the UK working in the centre on activities across all of our Service Lines. The role will work with Senior Leadership.

The role requires providing high-quality financial and management information, often under tight deadlines. Develop new reports and analyses in collaboration with stakeholders and systematise existing assets. Lead a team of Data Analysts, overseeing project work, identifying bottlenecks, and finding creative solutions. Upskill the team to become future Business Analysts. Present information and analysis to end users, highlighting variances and recommended actions.

Candidates must demonstrate strong financial analysis skills, including significant processing and checking. They should partner effectively with the wider finance team, understanding issues and expanding their knowledge. Problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome constraints are essential.

This role operates in a dynamic environment with ongoing changes to processes and systems as part of a Global Finance Transformation Programme. Flexibility and adaptability are key qualities for success.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Head of R&A to set priorities and actions.
  • Maintain relationships within the wider Finance team to understand infrastructure changes and their impact on reporting and analytics.
  • Manage projects, coordinating with other Finance areas and Service Lines to ensure data alignment and consistency.
  • Lead weekly team meetings and promote collaboration.
  • Organise and manage a team of Data Analysts, balancing workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Oversee the GDS Team to ensure high standards in reporting.
  • Assist in training and upskilling team members, balancing business and technical knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new tools for efficiency gains.
  • Deliver ad-hoc management information under tight deadlines.
  • Lead by example and act as a role model.
  • Support the rollout of new initiatives, systems, and processes.
  • Proactively raise the profile of the UKI R&A Team within the business.
  • Continue personal professional development.
  • Manage and develop reports.
  • Create and maintain documentation of key processes.
  • Perform data quality and accuracy checks across platforms.
  • Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing, including resource identification and progress assessment.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong background in financial analysis, preferably within Professional Services, with experience as a Data or Financial Analyst managing projects.
  • Collaborative approach, capable of working across finance areas and service lines, engaging staff at all levels.
  • Initiative-driven problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and a commitment to quality and efficiency.
  • Client-focused with a solid understanding of service concepts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Experience in managing, motivating, and training a team.
  • Technical skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, with the ability to learn firm-specific systems and data mining tools.
    • Knowledge of MS SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and T-SQL querying.
    • Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML, and VBA.
    • Understanding of relational database architecture and querying.
    • Proficiency in visualization tools like PowerBI.
DESIRABLE
  • Familiarity with Alteryx.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Knowledge of Python Machine Learning and Forecasting.
