Job summary

Wolverhampton Homes in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to lead our Property Inspectorate Team and guide asset management, investment planning and long-term strategy. You will oversee complex building issues, planned works and compliance to keep thousands of homes safe and compliant.

The role requires strong technical surveying expertise, stakeholder leadership and the ability to drive service improvements across a diverse housing portfolio.

Qualifications

• Are you a qualified Building Surveyor or experienced construction professional with strong technical expertise?
• Do you have experience managing housing assets, planned maintenance programmes or capital projects?
• Can you investigate complex building defects and provide practical, cost-effective solutions?
• Are you confident leading teams, influencing stakeholders and driving service improvement?

Responsibilities

• Leading and developing our Property Inspectorate Team
• Delivering strategic asset planning and investment recommendations
• Managing complex building pathology, structural and compliance issues
• Producing option appraisals and technical reports to inform investment decisions
• Overseeing planned maintenance and refurbishment projects
• Reviewing designs, specifications and construction proposals for major projects
• Supporting compliance with building safety, housing and health and safety legislation
• Working closely with customers, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes for residents
