Job summary

Workforce Staffing is recruiting for a Lead Bookkeeper to join a growing accountancy practice in the Stourport-on-Severn area. You will manage a varied portfolio of bookkeeping clients, take ownership of their bookkeeping needs and collaborate closely with the accounts team to provide accurate, timely financial information.

You will work with cloud accounting systems, prepare VAT returns, and help clients with queries while maintaining high accuracy and strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in accountancy practice is essential.
• Strong bookkeeping knowledge and VAT return experience.
• Excellent client communication and relationship-building skills.
• High attention to detail with good organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Knowledge of cloud accounting software is important.

This is a key role within the practice, giving you the opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of clients, take ownership of their bookkeeping requirements and work closely with the wider accounts team.

About the Opportunity

About You

We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys working with clients and wants to take the next step in their career.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous accountancy practice experience
• Strong bookkeeping knowledge
• Experience preparing VAT returns
• The confidence to communicate directly with clients
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Experience with cloud accounting software
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of your workload
• AAT or equivalent qualification would be advantageous
