Job summary

Client Server Limited is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer in Newcastle to design and implement APIs and microservices, manage secure server environments, and guide the team with architectural leadership. You will liaise with clients, gather requirements, and shape the product roadmap while remaining hands-on with design.

The role requires broad tech experience (C#, .NET, Python, TypeScript, REST APIs) and strong communication in a consultancy context.

Qualifications

• 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar technical discipline from a top tier university.
• Strong software engineering experience across C#, .Net, Python, TypeScript, C++, Rust, RESTful APIs, Vue.js, React, PostgreSQL, CI/CD, Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps.
• Advanced communication and client relationship skills gained within a consultancy.
• Strong business acumen.
• Technologist who collaborates and solves problems.
• Good knowledge of modern software engineering practices across the full SDLC.
• Understanding of CS fundamentals (OOP, data structures, design patterns, algorithms).
• Excited to join a startup in a role you can shape and influence.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement logic behind core applications, APIs and microservices.
• Oversee configuration and upkeep of secure, reliable server environments.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to gather requirements and shape product roadmap.
• Lead architecture and design hands-on; conduct code reviews and mentoring.
• Help the team remove blockers and deliver high-quality software.
