Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced safety engineer specialising in autonomous and AI-enabled physical systems to lead safety assignments across uncrewed, robotic and AI-enabled defence capabilities.

You will develop safety cases, manage hazard analyses and shape assurance strategies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver safe, verifiable autonomous solutions with hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering safety engineering or assurance for autonomous/complex physical systems in defence or safety-critical sectors.
• Leading or contributing to safety cases, safety assessments or assurance arguments.
• Knowledge of systems engineering, hazard and risk management across the lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety engineering and assurance work packages for autonomous and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Develop and maintain safety cases, assessments, hazard logs and assurance arguments.
• Apply hazard-analysis methods appropriate to complex behaviours and uncertain environments.
• Derive and verify safety requirements across platforms, sensors, control systems and software.
• Provide clear, evidence-based advice to clients, regulators and teams.
