Job summary

Archangel Autonomy is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to define the system architecture, requirements, and interfaces for a new UAV product. You will lead trade studies and technology selections while owning the technical baseline across subsystems.

You will build a new SE process, drive MBSE practices, and mentor engineers in integrating hardware and software with rigorous verification and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in systems engineering for complex systems with full lifecycle.
• Proven design authority and decisive technical leadership on complex systems.
• Experience with high assurance requirements (DO-178/DO-254, ISO 26262).
• Experience establishing engineering processes in growing orgs.
• Knowledge of product security standards (ISO 27001, AS 9100, ISO 9001).
• Hands-on hardware/software integration across subsystems.
• Strong judgment balancing startup speed with rigour.
• Interest in AI tooling and pioneering new approaches.

Responsibilities

• Be the design authority for a new UAS product architecture.
• Define CONOPS, top-level requirements, and interfaces.
• Lead technology decisions and trade studies.
• Manage system performance budgets across subsystems.
• Oversee requirements management and interface control.
• Maintain traceability from requirements to verification.
• Guide junior engineers in SE tooling and processes.
• Coordinate with customers and certification discussions.
