Job summary

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced leader in Aseptic Services to join our busy hospital pharmacy team. The role focuses on line managing senior technicians and assistants, coordinating training, and delivering aseptic production activities within the Unit, under QA/GMP standards.

You will develop and implement training programmes, perform pre‑preparation checks, approve final products, and work within standard operating procedures to support high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge in Aseptic Services within a hospital pharmacy setting.
• Ability to line manage and oversee Senior Technicians and assistants.
• Strong training and coaching skills for technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Line manage, support, and oversee the work of Senior Technicians and assistants across production sections.
• Organise and deliver training for staff involved in production activities.
• Carry out technical pharmaceutical activities in the Aseptic Unit ensuring QA, GMP and QC principles are followed.
• Perform pre-preparation checks and final product approval/release for aseptically dispensed products.
• Work within defined SOPs under supervision of the Technical Services Operational Lead and Accountable Pharmacist.
• Communicate complex information to ward staff regarding sterile products and technical staff issues.

Responsible for the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the training of technical staff (technicians and production operatives) across all production sections. Organises and delivers relevant training to all staff involved in production activities.
To undertake a full range of technical pharmaceutical activities within the pharmacy Aseptic Unit including the preparation and / or manufacture of medicines, ensuring that the principles of Quality Assurance, GMP and Quality Control are always applied.
To carry out pre-preparation checks and final product approval and release for aseptically dispensed products/prescriptions.
To work within defined standard operating procedures where work is managed rather than supervised by the Technical Services Operational Lead and the Accountable Pharmacist.
To provide or receive complex, sensitive information requiring tact or persuasive skills to ward staff on sterile products prepared by the aseptic service and when handling technical staff issues within the aseptic unit.
