Job summary

Thomson in the United Kingdom is seeking an aquatic consultant to join the Water team. You will manage and deliver complex aquatic projects, leading surveys, analyzing data and preparing technical reports to meet regulatory standards in riverine and estuarine environments.

The role covers macroinvertebrate, fish, habitat and water quality surveys, with work based across England or Wales. Strong field and reporting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in aquatic ecology or hydro-ecology.
• Strong knowledge of ecology/survey techniques, legislation, and project management.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and access to a car for fieldwork.
• Experience at Assistant Consultant or Consultant level in environmental consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver aquatic ecology and/or hydrology projects.
• Produce high-quality reporting and assessments for clients within time/budget constraints.
• Coordinate field surveys, liaise with clients and landowners, ensuring compliance with Thomson’s methods.
• Assist in business development with tenders, quotes and revenue growth.
• Stay updated on ecology/hydro-ecology legislation and survey techniques.
