Job summary

Funding Circle in London is seeking a senior data engineer to own the data modelling strategy and governance. You will design and implement star schemas and data usability improvements, setting standards for SQL, dbt, Python and Pyspark usage to solve business problems.

You will become the expert on the business domain and technical implementation, delivering high-quality code and mentoring the team to scalable data models.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with SQL, Python, Pyspark in data processing.
• Strong dbt experience; orchestration tools (Airflow) preferred.
• Expertise in ER and dimensional modelling for data warehouses.
• Experience with Cloud Data Warehousing (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Familiarity with Tableau and translating business requirements into technical designs.
• Ability to architect AI-enabled, scalable data solutions and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Owns the data modelling strategy and sets governance standards.
• Designs and implements features like star schemas and data usability improvements.
• Sets standards for SQL, dbt, Python, Pyspark usage to solve business problems.
• Becomes the expert on business domain and technical implementation.
• Delivers high-quality code and guides the team to scalable data models.
• Co-owns the backlog with Engineering Manager and translates requirements into tasks.
