Job summary

Eleven, an innovative advanced materials technology company in the United Kingdom, is seeking a Lead Analytical Scientist to drive the development of advanced material characterisation capabilities within a fast-paced R&D environment.

The successful candidate will combine hands-on scientific investigation with technical leadership, supporting the development of next-generation materials through analytical techniques and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Significant industrial experience within materials development or advanced technology environments.
  • Strong expertise in materials characterisation and analytical method development.
  • Experience investigating process–structure–property relationships.
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex scientific data independently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical and characterisation activities to support materials development programmes.
  • Design and execute investigations to understand process–structure–property–performance relationships.
  • Develop and improve materials characterisation methodologies.
  • Analyse and interpret complex datasets to generate actionable scientific insights.
  • Collaborate with R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams to support business objectives.
  • Lead technical problem-solving and root cause investigations.
  • Support and mentor scientists while promoting knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Ensure high standards of laboratory safety, quality, and compliance.
