Job summary

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is seeking a Lead Analyst to join the Research Team, focusing on the environment research programme and helping deliver the Five-Year Environment Plan and broader strategy. The role involves climate adaptation, nature recovery, spatial analysis, and cross-thematic collaboration with other Analysts and Principals.

Qualifications

  • Experience in research and analysis, delivering research projects.
  • Ability to source, analyse and present complex information to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with large quantitative data sets; data visualisation.
  • Experience with spatial data and GIS platforms (ArcGIS/ESRI preferable).
  • Knowledge of qualitative data (focus groups, interviews, community engagement).
  • Excellent writing and presentation abilities for technical material to non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of how data informs policy and delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders.
  • Awareness of the political landscape of Greater Manchester.
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques; self-motivated.
  • Commitment to equality and diversity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver environment research across programmes.
  • Undertake climate adaptation and nature recovery work.
  • Carry out spatial analysis and GIS mapping.
  • Collaborate with the GMCA Research Team on cross-thematic projects.
  • Support dashboard development and reporting.
