Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant to join their Manchester office. You will manage complex geo-environmental projects, oversee intrusive site investigations, and provide technical guidance to clients and junior staff.

The role offers hybrid/flexible working within a supportive, growth‑focused environment. The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree, have experience in contaminated land projects, and possess strong report writing and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Strong report writing and interpretation skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities; capable of mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Managing and delivering geo-environmental and contaminated land projects from inception to completion.
• Planning, supervising, and coordinating intrusive site investigations.
• Undertaking contaminated land risk assessments and remediation strategies.
• Interpreting geological, geotechnical, and environmental data.
• Preparing Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentoring and supporting junior consultants and engineers.
• Managing project budgets, programmes, and resource allocation.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and health and safety standards.
• Supporting business development activities and client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and delivering geo-environmental and contaminated land projects from inception to completion

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience working as a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant or in a similar geo-environmental role
• Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geo-Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation and UK regulatory frameworks
• Experience managing site investigations and contaminated land risk assessments
• Excellent report writing and technical interpretation skills
• Strong project management and client-facing experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK

This is a permanent role.
