Founding Machine Learning Engineer – Medical AI (Remote / Hybrid – London preferred)

About Us

We’re a venture-backed startup using AI to transform how complex, high-risk diseases are detected and managed — starting with [radiology/pathology/genomics/ICU/etc.]. Our platform leverages multimodal data (imaging, EHR, clinical text) to deliver MHRA-clearable decision support tools that actually integrate into clinical workflows.

What You’ll Do

• Build and scale state-of-the-art ML models for [e.g., diagnostic imaging, patient risk stratification, or real-time monitoring].
• Work with domain experts and clinical partners to curate and clean multimodal medical datasets (DICOM, EHR, text, lab data).
• Own the model pipeline from data ingestion through to production deployment.
• Collaborate with product and regulatory to design models ready for MHRA and NHS Digital compliance pathways.
• Contribute to technical strategy, IP development, and scientific publications.
• Help shape a world-class technical team as one of the first engineering hires.

You Might Be a Fit If You Have:

• 4+ years experience in applied machine learning (ideally deep learning, NLP, or computer vision).
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX; strong Python skills.
• Experience working with medical data (DICOM, HL7, FHIR, clinical notes) is a major plus.
• Passion for building products that make a real clinical impact.
• Excitement for fast-moving, zero-to-one environments.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with regulated AI in the UK (MHRA, UKCA, NICE), or knowledge of GDPR compliance in healthcare.
• Publications in NeurIPS, MICCAI, Nature Medicine, or similar.
• Prior startup or founding experience.
