Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead the Transparency Systems team, driving technical strategy and engineering excellence across multiple programmes at the Luton site. You will oversee full lifecycle activities from concept through airworthiness approvals and in-service support, mentoring teams and shaping technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or similar.
• Experience in Aerospace design or product development.
• Deep understanding of full product lifecycle, design practices, manufacturing processes, and airworthiness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority for transparency design across multiple programmes.
• Lead the definition of design standards and engineering best practices for transparency systems.
• Represent Design in MRBs and approve disposition of non conforming parts.
• Define and validate test methods and alternative means of compliance.
• Lead major technical reviews and customer design reviews.
• Identify, assess and manage technical risks across programmes.
