Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner for the South Adolescent Team to lead safeguarding work for teenagers at risk outside the home. You will mentor colleagues, support the Team Manager, and drive the Families First reforms across East Cambridgeshire.

Flexible working includes home-based days while staying well connected with the team through regular meetings and on-site work as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
• Experience in statutory social work settings with teenagers.
• Ability to provide professional leadership and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small caseload of approx. 6–8 youths aged 12+ with safeguarding concerns outside the home.
• Conduct home visits, attend meetings with professional networks, and complete written tasks.
• Support Team Manager with mentoring and developing best practices; deputise when needed.
• Lead implementation of Families First reforms in East Cambridgeshire.
