Job summary

The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham is seeking a Principal Transport Planner (Active Travel) to lead and deliver the borough’s active travel programme, driving safe, accessible and sustainable streets for residents, businesses and visitors.

You will provide strategic leadership across walking, cycling, micromobility and related infrastructure, develop robust business cases and work with TfL, partners and communities to implement high-impact schemes.

Qualifications

• Substantial professional experience in transport planning, with active travel delivery.
• Experience developing walking/cycling/sustainable transport strategies and programmes.
• Proven ability to deliver complex transport projects from concept to delivery.
• Strong knowledge of active travel policy, design standards and guidance.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, management and delivery of the Council’s active travel programme.
• Develop and implement strategies for walking, wheeling, cycling and sustainable travel.
• Lead the approach to micromobility including operator relationships and infrastructure.
• Identify external funding opportunities and build robust business cases.
