Job summary

Blackburn Rovers Academy seeks an experienced physiotherapist/sports therapist to deliver medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for U18 players, and support U9–U16s as needed.

You will provide daily care, lead match-day medical coverage, maintain medical records, and coordinate scans and external treatments in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy is essential.
• ATMMiF qualification is essential.
• MSc in Sports Physiotherapy or related discipline is desirable.
• Experience in elite sport environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to all U18 players daily.
• Assist in medical care for U9-U16 academy players as required.
• Lead match day medical cover and maintain up-to-date records.
• Organise scans and arrange external treatment as needed.
• Liaise with parents and coaches regularly and maintain CPD portfolio.

Job description

Blackburn Rovers Academy, Brockhall Village, Old Langho, BB6 8BA. However, flexibility regarding location is required.

Reports to:

Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine

Responsible for:

Work placements and students as and when required

Hours of work:

37.5 hours per week plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties.This will include regular evening and weekend work.

1. Job purpose:

To provide medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to all U18 players on a daily basis and assist with the management of the U9-U16s Academy players’ treatment and rehabilitation as and when required.

2. Duties and responsibilities:

• To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all players, promoting their well-being needs whilst maintaining professional boundaries;
• To lead and provide medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to all U18 players;
• To assist in the medical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of all academy players as required;
• To provide match day cover as required;
• To maintain up to date medical records in line with industry and audit standards;
• To organise scans and external treatment as required;
• To liaise with parents and coaches on a regular basis;
• To ensure all written evidence is up to date in line with EPPP requirements;
• To create external links as required;
• To maintain an up to date CPD portfolio;
• Ensure best practice is followed at all times and players are receiving optimal advice;
• To assist and lead departmental in-service training as and when required;
• To assist in the education of players in relation to terms of injury prevention, injury care, post-match recovery and drug awareness;
• To assist in the collection and evaluation of daily physio screens and wellness data;
• To assist with the cool down, strength, movement re-training and stretching sessions with squads or groups of players as required by the department; and
• Any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine.

About The Candidate

4. Knowledge required:

• Knowledge of current sport science and medicine practice with particular specialism in sports medicine;
• Knowledge and experience of elite sporting environment;
• Awareness and knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures; and
• Awareness of Paediatric Physiological Development.

5. Qualifications required:
