Job summary

Reading Football Club is seeking an Academy Physiotherapist to deliver high-quality medical support to players in the Category 1 Academy and to support full-time and hybrid training programs at Reading FC venues.

You will assess injuries, lead evidence-based treatment, and work with coaches and the MDT to keep staff informed of player availability for matches and training, while contributing to injury prevention and clinical governance.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and professional registrations (HCPC, CSP) are required.
• Willingness to undertake CPD and safeguarding/equality training.
• Current ITMMiF or ATMMiF qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate assessment and diagnoses of academy injuries.
• Deliver evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation for academy players.

Job description

We are looking for the right candidate to join our Academy Physiotherapy Team in our Category 1 Academy, who will be responsible for delivering a high quality evidence based medical support service to all players in the Academy as part of the Academy medical team, and providing medical services to the Full-time and Hybrid programs at various Reading FC training venues

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• To provide accurate assessment and diagnoses of all academy player injuries
• To provide, log and develop high quality evidence based treatment and rehabilitation of Academy players.
• To liaise effectively with the academy coaching staff and wider MDT on a daily basis in order to keep them informed of player’s availability for academy matches and training.
• To provide and assist with the delivery of an injury risk reduction program to U9-U16 squads in alignment with current evidence and departmental principles, in both group and individual settings.
• To support and assist with the Academy Injury Clinic under the guidance of the Senior Academy Physiotherapist and the Academy Physiotherapy team.
• To provide pitch-side trauma cover for all weekend fixtures and festivals and any other game as required.
• To implement and follow clubs’ player screening and monitoring protocols on daily, weekly and yearly basis, e.g medical screening and squeezes
• To assist with medical provisions to the Pro-Phase Squad and beyond, when appropriate, as directed by the Senior Academy Physiotherapist.
• To provide and maintain up to date records of Screening Protocols as directed by the Senior Academy Physiothera pist and in conjunction with EPPP requirements.
• To maintain accurate records of injuries and medical interventions on Club PMA.
• To maintain and deliver up to date, comprehensive and accurate age specific (throughout the academy as directed by the Senior Academy Physiotherap ist ) injury audits at 6-weekly intervals
• To undertake ad hoc duties and provide cover for other team responsibilities when required, in line with business needs
• To maintain and update qualifications and CPD by both contributing to the clubs medical department in-service program and attending external course, in liaison with the Senior Academy Physiotherapy
• To using effective communication to liaise with all appropriate staff in relation to the above listed responsibilities.
• To respond to supporter enquiries in line with Reading Football Club Charter guidelines , maintaining professionalism and consistency at all times.

About The Candidate

The Successful candidate will hold a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, be registered with the HCPC and CSP, hold a current ITMMiF qualification (or ideally hold a current ATMMiF qualification). You will be willing to undertake Continued Professional Development, complete Safeguarding, and Equality Diversity & Inclusion Training

You will work variable hours dependent on the Academy training and games schedule, which will be identified in advance on the staff rota
