Job summary

Essential Employment is assisting a fast-paced Adult Social Care Legal Team in Bolton by recruiting a qualified lawyer. The role focuses on Court of Protection work, mental capacity, and advising on the Care Act and related funding disputes.

You will deliver clear, timely guidance, balance competing priorities, and support decision-making for vulnerable adults. This is a temporary PAYE assignment paying £55 per hour.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with experience in adult social care law.
• Experience handling Court of Protection work.
• Ability to advise across Care Act and related legislation.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

The successful candidate will play a key role within a fast‑paced Adult Social Care Legal Team, providing clear, robust and timely advice across a wide range of complex matters. They will confidently manage Court of Protection work, deliver well‑reasoned guidance on the Care Act and associated legislation, and handle Ordinary Residence and funding disputes with precision and sound judgement.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in mental capacity and mental health law, contribute to finance and policy‑related work, and support colleagues across the wider adult social care function. They will be highly organised, able to balance competing priorities, and committed to delivering a responsive, solution‑focused legal service that supports effective decision‑making and positive outcomes for vulnerable adults.
