Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Private Client Tax team in Newcastle, to be part of a dedicated law firm compliance function. You will review tax returns for law firm partners, prepared by other team members, ensuring appropriate feedback is given. You will ensure internal deadlines are met and work with the client relationship team to discuss planning opportunities or client queries. The role requires an agile and professional working style to adapt to different clients, with potential to take over client relationship responsibilities and shape the role from the start.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent client service by maintaining relationships
• Manage a portfolio of personal clients with complex tax affairs
• Meet client and compliance deadlines, monitor time limits and elections
• Assist and lead tax planning projects (non-domicile issues, trusts, capital gains, inheritance tax)
• Manage HMRC enquiries and disclosures
• Handle billing and monitor budgets
• Review compliance and advisory work by junior staff
• Engage in business development activities
• Ensure adherence to internal procedures and manage departmental administrative tasks

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Adviser
• Experience with law firm partners and/or partnerships in a professional services firm
• Experience managing complex compliance issues
• People management and organizational skills
