Job summary

Akari Care is seeking a dedicated Laundry Assistant for one of our elderly care homes. In collaboration with the Housekeeper and domestic team, you will manage daily laundry operations, treat each resident's clothing with care, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and tidiness.

You should have laundry experience, be flexible to changes, work well under pressure, and display a warm, respectful, and engaging manner toward residents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all laundry processes in the home.
• Collaborate with Housekeeper and the wider domestic team.

We now seek an additional Laundry Assistant who is passionate about, and thrives on, making a real and positive difference to the lives of older people.

Working in collaboration and unison with the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient running of all laundry processes in the home.

This will include giving your undivided attention and care to all items for laundering, performing minor repairs to the residents’ personal items of clothing whilst being respectful and supportive of individual and differing needs.

Continually and compassionately assess all aspects of residents’ laundry requirements and provide dedicated and individualised attention if / when required.

Methodically ensure that the laundry room is permanently clean and tidy, and that all equipment is clean and well maintained alongside imparting your knowledge to all other colleagues to ensure they adhere to the same high standards.

Whilst you will be involved in all the practical duties you would expect in a busy care home laundry environment it is important to be mindful of and conscious to individual religious and cultural backgrounds.
