Laundry Assistant

University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust prides itself on providing comprehensive linen cover for wards and departments.

All items of linen are delivered at various times to ensure enough clean linen is available for our patients' needs. Therefore, delivering patient first.

We are seeking a Laundry Assistant for the morning shift; bank hours will also be available.

Main duties of the job

• Sorting of soiled linen prior to wash cycle
• Operation of laundry machines in accordance with specified procedures and all health & safety requirements
• Transporting clean/dirty linen between each laundry cycle
• Folding and packing of finished linen to meet customer needs
• Reporting all equipment/machine faults to supervision
• Delivery of clean linen to all wards/departments when required
• Complying with all health & safety regulations at all times
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the work area at all times

• Attend mandatory training updates as required
• Undertake training as necessary for role development and personal growth
• Achieve and demonstrate standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales
• Identify own learning needs and plan training with your line manager
• Participate in the Trust's appraisal process to discuss role development and service improvements

Person Specification

• Good knowledge of linen
• Good understanding of English and Maths
• Previous experience with laundry/linen items is an advantage
