Job summary

Oxa in Oxford is seeking a hybrid field software/hardware engineer to join Launchpad. You will operate, test, and debug autonomy systems in real-world environments, build and maintain maps for testing, and analyze data to identify and resolve issues.

You’ll work with multi-disciplinary teams and travel to UAE for seconded periods, shaping the future of Universal Autonomy. This role requires hands-on presence in Oxford workshops and test sites, strong problem-solving across hardware–software

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving skills across hardware–software boundaries.
• Process development to create reliable workflows that scale.
• Able to manage workload and adapt to field challenges.
• Flexible with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Capture software and process requirements and translate them into tooling and workflows.
• Plan and coordinate delivery of projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience with scripting, automation, and internal tooling (Python/Bash).
• Working knowledge of C++, ROS or equivalent middleware, Linux, and git/CI.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a cross-functional team in the field to operate, test, and debug autonomy systems.
• Build, upgrade and maintain maps for testing vehicles in the real world.
• Analyze data to identify issues and enable resolution.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to translate technical requirements into solutions.
• Identify functionality gaps and contribute to hotfixes and new features.
• This is a hybrid role requiring hands-on work with autonomous vehicles.
• Extensive travel to the UAE for seconded periods; no passport or criminal record restrictions.
