Job summary

Jewson in Stockport is launching a new transport hub and seeks a hands-on Transport Manager to lead the daily operations from launch. You will oversee fleet, route planning, driver oversight, and compliance while helping recruit and onboard the initial team.

The role requires experience in transport and fleet operations, with strong knowledge of health & safety, licensing, and legislation. Monday–Friday hours and a focus on practical delivery of a scalable transport operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport, logistics, fleet management or a similar operational environment.
• Previous experience managing commercial vehicle fleets and transport operations.
• A strong understanding of transport legislation, compliance and Health & Safety requirements.
• Experience managing small to medium-sized fleets.
• Knowledge of driver compliance, vehicle checks, tachographs, defects and servicing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day transport operations and administration.
• Manage an initial fleet of 6 trucks, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operations.
• Plan and schedule deliveries to meet customer service levels.
• Plan efficient delivery routes and optimise transport resources.
• Build strong relationships with drivers, suppliers, customers and transport partners.
• Support recruitment of the wider transport team ahead of the hub launch.
