Redline Group is seeking a Laser Application Support Engineer for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. This hands-on role covers laser applications, machine commissioning, alignment and process development in a specialist engineering environment.

You will work closely with customers and internal teams to tailor laser systems, design experiments, and transfer procedures for large production runs. On-site, with potential for extension or permanent conversion.

Qualifications

  • Practical, hands-on experience working with lasers and laser-based machinery, ideally within an engineering, manufacturing, laboratory or R&D environment.
  • Experience with laser alignment, laser applications or using laser systems to process materials. CO2 laser experience would be highly advantageous.
  • A practical understanding of complete laser systems and machinery, rather than experience solely within the manufacture of laser sources or components.
  • A degree in Physics or a related technical discipline would be advantageous, particularly for graduates with relevant practical laser experience.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to work experimentally, solve technical problems and develop new processes.

Responsibilities

  • Working on practical laser applications and collaborating with end-users to tailor laser systems and processes to specific requirements.
  • Supporting the commissioning and alignment of optical machines, ensuring systems are correctly set up and operational.
  • Designing and carrying out experiments to establish the appropriate laser process conditions to meet customer requirements.

  • Working with CO2 lasers and micromachining systems to support R&D activities, customer samples and process development.
  • Designing, documenting and implementing procedures to ensure successful processes can be transferred to machine operators and used for larger production batches.

Laser Application Support Engineer – 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Are you a Laser Applications Engineer looking for your next challenge? My client has an exciting opportunity for a hands-on and technically minded Laser Application Support Engineer to join their growing team on a 6-month fixed term contract, supporting the development, commissioning and optimisation of laser-based machinery and processes within a specialist engineering environment.


This is a hands-on role where you will be involved in laser applications, machine commissioning, laser alignment and process development, working closely with customers and internal engineering teams to develop and optimise laser processes to meet specific requirements.


Laser Application Support Engineer role based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, you will be responsible for the following:

The successful applicant for this Laser Application Support Engineer job based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire should have:
